Patricia Shelton

Volunteer, peer educator, activist, speaker and consultant

Patricia Shelton is a 61-year-old African-American woman who, since 1995, has lived with the HIV virus. She has been a volunteer, activist, advocate, consultant, and speaker and is presently a health educator. She has been honored by SisterLove's 2020 Leading Women's Society for her many years of helping and representing those who are HIV-positive. She is also a co-facilitator at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, helping women 50 and over who are living with the virus and battling depression, and guiding them toward healthy relationships. Her greatest achievements are her three daughters, who have seven degrees between them.
