Former Dean, University at Albany School of Public Health
Peter J. Levin is the former Dean of the University at Albany School of Public Health. Under Levin's leadership, the School of Public Health has saw a consistent increase in enrollment, expansion of distance learning initiatives and three new joint degree programs through partnerships with Albany Medical College and UAlbany's School of Social Welfare.
Shortly following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Dean Levin recognized the unique role that schools of public health had to play in preparedness. He led the University's efforts to be designated a regional Center for Public Health Preparedness by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in 2002. The Center for Public Health Preparedness sends satellite broadcasts of public health programming to all 50 states and more than 450 sites.
