With over two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Philip Barr has developed a medical philosophy that integrates internal medicine and mind/body medicine where he focuses on rebalancing a patient’s health in a proactive manner. Using a team approach,

Dr. Barr brings together complementary modalities that address a patient as a “whole person” for true optimal health and wellness.

Dr. Barr graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in biology. His medical training is from the University of Maryland, where he received honors in family medicine, and he completed his internal medicine training at the University of Massachusetts Hospitals. At Harvard Medical School, Dr. Barr was selected for a prestigious research fellowship in behavioral cardiology and mind/body medicine. Dr. Barr deepened his clinical approach with a master’s degree in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica. Upon graduation, he joined the USM faculty. Nutrition has been a heavy focus, and he is certified in Functional Medicine as well. Dr. Barr’s career has spanned diverse clinical settings, providing care on multiple Native American reservations, serving as a medical director at Boulder Community Hospital in Colorado, conducting a clinical practice at Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Arizona, and serving as clinical faculty for the University of Colorado Medical School.

Dr. Barr is now devoting his full-time clinical practice to patients at the California Health and Longevity Institute, in Westlake Village, CA. His book on empowering patients proactively is due for completion by year’s end. Dr. Barr is available for speaking and keynote engagements.
