I was born in 1945 in Tennessee but soon moved to and grew up in Connecticut. I attended University directly out of high school, but I was really unmotivated and confused as to what I wanted to do with my life and finally managed to flunk out after two years. I enlisted in the Marine Corps and eventually ended up flying back seat of the F-4 Phantom II as a Radar Intercept Officer. In 1979 I returned to civilian life and enrolled at UCONN, earning degrees in electronics engineering and computer science. On graduation I moved with my wife and two boys to California and the Mojave Desert and spent the next 29 years working for the US Navy at China Lake. That an engineer should have an affinity for literature is probably no more bizarre than that the Navy should have a base in the Mojave Desert. Perhaps that informs my fascination with the bizarre and inexplicable. I retired at the end of 2012 and moved to the Austin TX area, near my older son and his wife and my brand new grandson, Robert Anthony!
