Rabbi Laura Gold, Ph.D.

Clinical psychologist and rabbi

Rabbi Laura Gold, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist who has had a private psychotherapy practice for the past 24 years, working with children, adolescents, adults and couples. She works with clients with a full range of issues, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, sexual identity and sexual orientation issues, and history of trauma. She also has a specialty in pre-marital counseling and helping people with religious and spiritual concerns.

A graduate of Princeton University (A.B. 1982) and the University of Michigan (Ph.D. 1988), she spent seven years on the faculty of the University of Michigan and as Director of Training for an affiliated outpatient mental health clinic. She spent a sabbatical year engaged in Jewish learning at the Pardes Institute in Jerusalem and shortly thereafter began rabbinical studies at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City as a Wexner Graduate Fellow.

In addition to her ongoing work as a psychologist, since her ordination in 2003 Rabbi Dr. Gold has served on the faculty of the JTS Rabbinical School as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pastoral and Professional Skills. As a rabbi and psychologist, she offers consultations to individuals and organizations, teaches, leads workshops and officiates at life-cycle events. She lives and works on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
