Educator, Collaborator and Explorer

Rachel Brody is the Managing Director of Teach For America’s Special Education and Ability Initiative that was recently launched in March of 2014. Prior to joining Teach For America staff, she taught for six years in Washington DC across self-contained, resource and inclusion settings and across the roles of special educator, general educator, co-teacher, instructional coach and department chair. She began her teaching career as a 2007 Teach For America corps member in Washington, DC and received an M.Ed in Special Education from George Mason University. Rachel began working with international teacher training during the summers starting in 2009 and has had the opportunity to be involved with Teach For Lebanon, Noored Kooli (Teach For Estonia) and local organizations in Guatemala and Israel to improve services for children with different learning needs. This led to her greater involvement in international collaboration in the field of learning differences and special education via the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) as a board member of The Division for International Special Education Services(DISES). Rachel has a deep belief that all children deserve an excellent education and the opportunity to reach their greatest potential.
