Rudy Koshar is the George L. Mosse / Wisconsin Alumni Research Professor of History, German & Religious Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is the author or editor of seven books, including Germany’s Transient Pasts: Preservation and National Memory in the Twentieth Century, and From Monuments to Traces: Artifacts of German Memory 1870-1990. He has won Guggenheim, American Council of Learned Societies, and other fellowships. He is also a fiction writer whose short stories have appeared in Prick of the Spindle, Revolution House, Eclectica, Black Heart Magazine, Empty Oaks, Forge, Turk's Head Review, and numerous other magazines. In 2015 he was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in Fiction. He blogs at rudykoshar.net.
