Robert Sullivan, a 30-year veteran of Time Inc. publications, is the Managing Editor of LIFE Books, based in New York City. One of the more than 80 books he has written or edited for LIFE was the New York Times Number One bestselling ONE NATION: America Remembers September 11, 2001 (Little, Brown. The Wall Street Journal called ONE NATION "a thorough and thoughtful telling." Sullivan’s biography of Pope John Paul II (Bulfinch) was also a Times bestseller. In the fall of 2008, he wrote for Little, Brown The American Journey of Barack Obama, which spent twelve weeks on the Times list.

Besides his work at Time Inc., Sullivan has authored several other books, among them Flight of the Reindeer: The True Story of Santa Claus and His Christmas Mission (Macmillan, 1996; reissued by Skyhorse last year) and Atlantis Rising: The True Story of a Submerged Land, Yesterday and Today (Simon & Schuster, 1999). The late Frank McCourt said that reading Sullivan is "like sitting by the fire with a lively and scholarly seanachie . . . as satisfying as a pint of Guinness or a Connemara sunset."

Sullivan lives with his wife, three children and psychotic Springer Spaniel in Westchester County, New York.
