Sam Dillinger

Auto repair blogger. Come see me and Skype with a mechanic!

My name is Sam Dillinger. I've been a professional, dealership technician for over 20 years. My first introduction to mechanical repair was when my own vehicle broke down in the fall of 1995. I was 18 and couldn't afford to pay to have it fixed. So I borrowed tools and asked a ton of questions and, eventually, was able to replace the clutch on my truck by myself. During the course of that project, I found that I really enjoyed having a wrench in my hand and figuring out the puzzle of disassembly and reassembly of a motor vehicle (weird, I know)  In the fall of 1996 I began my career as a technician in earnest. I've worked for several major car dealerships and I've specialized in: Engine diagnosis and repair Electrical diagnosis and repair A/C diagnosis and repair Driveability diagnosis and repair Steering and suspension Base brake and ABS brake systems Transmission diagnosis and repair So as you can see, I've specialized in pretty much every major category that can go wrong with your vehicle. I've maintained my certifications in all of these categories but I've spent the last 15 years almost solely specializing in transmission diagnosis and repair. That's where I've made my reputation in the field. Now I'm here to put that knowledge and nearly 20 years of experience to work for you and help you save money!
