Sejal Hathi

Sejal Hathi (21) is an incoming student at Stanford University's School of Medicine, who is pursuing a career at the nexus of medicine, technology, and social innovation. An avid social entrepreneur, Sejal founded both the nonprofit Girls Helping Girls at age 15, and the social enterprise girltank at age 19, dedicated to socially and economically empowering young women globally. Over the last few years, these organizations have mobilized over 30,000 young women changemakers in 104 countries to design sustainable social change. Sejal is also a founding partner at S2 Capital, an early-stage fund that invests equity and debt in young entrepreneurs in the developing world. Among other projects, Sejal has served as a youth USA Ambassador to Ashoka and an adviser on youth development and women and girls to UNESCO, Youth Service America (Board member), the World Bank (YDP Network Board), Girls for a Change (Board), and State Farm Insurance (Board). She has spoken at TEDWomen, TEDxTeen, and the United Nations, among other venues; and has been named a Forbes 30 Under 30 Honoree, a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, a Harry S. Truman Scholar, one of Newsweek’s “150 Women Who Shake the World,” a National Jefferson Award winner, a United States Presidential Scholar, one of CNN’s Young People Who Rock, and a Glamour Magazine Young Women of the Year for her work. A published author and Yale Global Health Fellow, Sejal graduated from Yale University with a B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, & Developmental Biology in May 2013.

Sejal is currently serving as Ambassador for L'Oreal USA's new For Girls in Science initiative.
