Sharlene Hesse-Biber, Ph.D. is Professor of Sociology at Boston College. She is the Director of the Women's & Gender Studies Program. Her research interests include issues of gender identity and genetic testing, gender inequality, body image and eating disorders.
Her latest books are Waiting for Cancer to Come: Genetic Testing and Women's Medical Decision Making for Breast and Ovarian Cancer (University of Michigan Press, 2014) and her award winning book, The Cult of Thinnes (Oxford University Press, 2007).
