Shira Dicker

Writer-at-large. Promoter of Cool Causes.

Shira Dicker is a restless writer-at-large, captivated by contemporary culture. She has written for newspapers and magazines both local and national, including The New York Times, The Forward, The Jerusalem Post, AdWeek, The Times Herald Record and many, many more.

Her articles on Occupy Wall Street appear in The Jerusalem Report.

As a publicist specializing in promoting books, documentary films, musicians, art exhibitions and religious leaders, Shira Dicker has created attention-grabbing campaigns for her clients, contextualized important issues, placed articles in important publications, served as a spokesperson, strategist and ghostwriter.

Educated in the US and abroad, Ms. Dicker’s sensibility is global, though her lens is stubbornly American. Her analysis of cultural phenomena is filtered through this lens; her particularistic focus is part of her trademark. An example of this approach is to be found in the writing on her blog, Bungalow Babe in the Big City, which has been termed literary and incisive.

This past May, she received her MA in Arts and Culture writing from Columbia University and balances her writing life with teaching.
