Sonja Lyubomirsky is Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Riverside. She received her A.B., summa cum laude, from Harvard and her Ph.D. from Stanford. Lyubomirsky’s teaching and mentoring of students have been recognized with the Faculty of the Year (twice) and Faculty Mentor of the Year Awards. Lyubomirsky’s research -- on the possibility of permanently increasing happiness -- has been honored with a Science of Generosity grant, a Character Lab grant, a John Templeton Foundation Grant, a Templeton Positive Psychology Prize, and (with Sheldon) a million-dollar grant from NIMH. Lyubomirsky’s best-selling 2008 book, The How of Happiness (Penguin Press) has been published in 23 countries, and her new book, The Myths of Happiness, is translated in 20 countries. Her work has been featured in hundreds of magazine and newspaper articles, as well as TV shows, radio shows and feature documentaries across the globe. Lyubomirsky lives in Santa Monica, California, with her family.
