President of the University of Connecticut
Susan Herbst is the President of the University of Connecticut. She received her BA in Political Science from Duke University and a doctorate from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication in Los Angeles. Before coming to Connecticut, she served in a variety of roles at research universities, including 14 years on the faculty at Northwestern University. She is a scholar of public opinion, media, and American politics, and is the author of four books and many articles in these areas, including most recently, Rude Democracy: Civility and Incivility in American Politics (2010). She is co-editor of the "University of Chicago Press Series" in American Politics.
