U Pyinya Zawta is a Founding member and the Executive Director in Exile of the All Burma Monks’ Alliance, the organization that led the monks against the military junta in 2007 in Burma. He was imprisoned for ten years for his pro-democracy activities in Burma. He is the commanding voice behind the scenes in the documentary film bought by HBO, Burma VJ: Reporting from a Closed Country.
