Victoria A. Brownworth is a Pulitzer Prize-nominated journalist. The first out lesbian to have a column in a daily newspaper, she has won the Society of Professional Journalism Award, the NLGJA Award, Lambda Literary Award and many others. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Baltimore Sun and The Nation, among other national publications. She is a contributing editor and columnist for Curve magazine and Lambda Literary Review, as well as a frequent contributor to the Advocate and SheWired. She is the author of more than 20 books. Her most recent book is From Where We Sit: Black Writers Write Black Youth for which she won the 2012 Moonbeam Award for Cultural/Historical Fiction. Her novella, Ordinary Mayhem, was awarded Honorable Mention in Best Horror 2012. She is an advocate against sex-trafficking and for LGBT issues.
