Wayne is the founder of LGBTQ charity RUComingOut, the Youth Programmes Manager at Stonewall and an advice columnist at Attitude Magazine. He was born in Burton on Trent in Staffordshire and moved to London in 2013. Wayne has a BA in media and cultural studies, a PGCE (post-compulsory) and a post-grad certificate in social studies. As well as working with unemployed and disadvantaged young people, Wayne worked as a youth worker for five years for the National Health Service (NHS) where he gave emotional, practical and professional support to 14 to 19 year olds. RUComingOut.com was set up in 2012 as a way to support LGBT people who were struggling to come out. Wayne had the idea to share coming out stories from people who had gone through the experience already. In 2016 RUComingOut was granted charitable status. Wayne was named the 15th most influential LGBTI person in Britain in the Independent on Sunday's Rainbow List in 2016. In the same year he was awarded a Points of Light award by British Prime Minister David Cameron for his work with RUComingOut.
