Wendell Cox

Principal, Demographia

Wendell Cox is Chair of Housing Affordability and Municipal Policy at the Frontier Centre for Public Policy (Canada), a senior fellow at the Center for Opportunity Urbanism (Houston) and on the board of advisors of the Center for Demographics and Policy at Chapman University.

He is principal of Demographia, a St. Louis based international public policy consulting firm. He specializes in urban policy and demographics.

Wendell Cox was appointed to three terms on the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission. He also served on the Amtrak Reform Council and was a visiting professor at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers in Paris.<

He is co-author of the Demographia International Housing Affordability Survey, which rates metropolitan markets in 9 nations. He is author of Demographia World Urban Areas, the only regularly published world compendium of population, land and and urban densities for all identified urban areas with 500,000 or more population.

In Toward More Prosperous Cities he sets out the view that the fundamental purpose of cities is higher standards of living for residents and lower poverty rates.
