Ukraine is Putin's Blueberry Hill!

Sure it sounds crazy, but just look at some of the lyrics to the classic Fats Domino song.

Remember when everyone went nuts over Vladimir Putin playing piano and singing Blueberry Hill at a charity event a few years back?

What if Putin was really singing about his plans for Ukraine?!

Sure it sounds crazy, but just look at some of the lyrics to the classic Fats Domino song:

"Though we're apart / You're part of me still..."

For most of the 20th Century, Ukraine was part of the USSR. But when Ukraine gained independence after the fall of the Soviet Union, some Russian leaders -- like Vladimir Putin -- never got over the loss. Is that what Putin meant when he crooned, "you're part of me still..." back in 2010?

"But all of those vows we made / Were never to be!"

When Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons, Russia swore it wouldn't mess with the now independent country, signing a number of international pacts in the 90s, including The Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances and a Treaty of Friendship. So what about all those promises Russia made? Well, as Putin sang it, "...all of those vows...were never to be!"

It all fits! Sort of.

Comedian Kevin Janus and I tell you all about Putin's love for Ukraine - with a special appearance by Steven Seagal! - on the latest episode of the Where The F**k Are We comedy podcast (WTFAW for the kids on iTunes and on Stitcher). Have a listen!
