As previous readers know, I am a strong believer in the critical role the private sector has to play in financing the recently adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This new global framework with its ambitious post-2015 development agenda will need a different magnitude of financing, one that will surpass the current capacities of governments and international donors. I have highlighted, in previous posts, the need to leverage the "billions" in Official Development Assistance (ODA) to attract and mobilize "trillions" in investments of all kinds: public and private, national and global, in both capital and capacity.

To facilitate increased awareness about the subject, I'm excited to share with you that the World Bank Group will be launching a Financing for Development Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on November 16. The objective of this free course is to familiarize more people with the new development agenda and the use of finance, including innovative solutions, to fund the SDGs and meet our Bank Group goals of ending poverty and boosting shared prosperity by 2030. Over the four week course, participants will hear from prominent government, international organization and private sector leaders. Each has considerable first-hand experience in preparing and implementing development projects and forging public-private collaborations globally and regionally.

I invite you, therefore, to register now for the Financing for Development Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). Join the growing numbers of those who understand the importance of combining public resources with private and commercial finance for the common good to implement the 17 SDGs.

Many thanks for sharing widely!
