Both Sides and The Center: A Literary Festival
MAK Center (West Hollywood)
Inspired by the architecture of R.M. Schindler's House and Studio (1922), Both Sides and The Center will feature literary readings and performances enacting various levels of proximity, intimacy, and distance. The festival continues on Saturday, August 20 from 5-9pm.

Cause for Creativity: Tour da Arts, vol. 3
SMMoA (Santa Monica)
The Santa Monica Museum of Art's third annual Tour da Arts bike event invites you to participate in a spoke-card workshop and a scenic ride with stops for music, dance, and art along the way. The ride culminates at SMMoA with the Bicycle Bell Ensemble -- a tuneful collaborative performance.
Mind Reading for the Left and Right Brain
Machine Project (Echo Park)
Machine Project's first ever mind reading workshop. Beth McMullian will lead participants in a hands on electronics workshop where participants will built a primitive lie detector known as the galvanic skin response meter. Then two psychics, Asher Hartman and Haruko Tanaka, will lead participants in developing their psychic abilities. Registration is now open and costs $85 for non-members.

Lunchtime Art Talks: Honore Daumier

The Hammer's curatorial department leads free and insightful 15-minute discussion about works of art currently on view or from museum collections. This talk will be led by Allison Agsten, curator, public engagement.
