THURSDAY, AUGUST 26
Vertical Veggies: Urban Gardening and Cooking at Homegirl Cafe
Homegirl Cafe (Chinatown)

LA Commons and de LaB present an evening of urban farming, cooking, and eating at the Homegirl Cafe. Workshops in cooking, container gardening, and vertical gardening will be followed by a dinner at Homegirl Cafe made with produce from their on-site vertical garden and a musical performance by Fandango Sin Fronteras. Admission is $15 and all proceeds benefit Homegirl Cafe and LA Commons' Trekking L.A. program.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 28
Hammer Projects: Tom Marioni
Hammer Museum (Westwood)
The opening of the first solo exhibition in Los Angeles by influential Conceptualist artist Tom Marioni. Marioni will present his on-going artwork Drinking Beer with Friends is the Highest Form of Art which features a bar-like installation and the detritus of the four gatherings he will host as part of the piece. A Lunchtime Art Talks with curator Anne Ellegood about the work will be held Wednesday, September 1 at 12:30pm and on Tuesday, September 28, Tom Marioni will be at the Hammer for a free artist talk and performance.

Saturdays Off the 405
Getty Museum (Brentwood)

Saturdays Off the 405 features outdoor music and views of the city atop the hill of the Getty Museum. This week's installment features performances by The Antlers and Dublab founder DJ Frosty. A cash bar, serving Getty-tinis and other drinks, and the Garden Terrance Cafe are open until 8:30pm. Visitors can also participate in the free Spotlight After Dark tours, a 20-minute exploration and discussion of art with a Getty Museum educator. Tours depart at 6pm and 7pm.

MONDAY, AUGUST 30
Suburban Knights: A Return to the Middle Ages
LACMA (Mid-Wilshire)
5-7pm
Art Catalogues at LACMA celebrates the publication of fine art photographer E.F Kitchen's Suburban Knights: A Return to the Middle Ages with champagne, wine, food, film, talk and a book signing with the author.
