The opening reception for Bodies, an exhibition of new paintings by Alexandra Grant. Friday evening from 7-8pm, Michael Joyce will read from a selection of his poetry, including the haiku cycle that inspired Grant's work.

Seven Card Stud

The opening reception for Seven Card Stud, an exhibition featuring works by Brian Bress, Matt Connors, Mari Eastman, Peter Harkawik, Nick Herman, Alex Klein and Nathan Mabry.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
The Artist's Museum
The Geffen Contemporary (Downtown)
11am-6pm
The opening of The Artist's Museum, an exhibition featuring MOCA's permanent collection of contemporary works produced by Los Angeles artists from 1980 to present day. The exhibition is also the MOCA premiere of Doug Aitken's Electric Earth (1999), an eight-channel video installation. The Artist's Museum installation at MOCA's Grand Avenue location will open October 31.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22
Contraband
Gagosian Gallery (Beverly Hills)

The opening reception for Contraband, a new photographic series by Taryn Simon.
