Head to the Hammer Museum this Sunday to check out James Welling: Monograph and Forrest Bess: Seeing Things Invisible.

Start with brunch at AMMO, then head upstairs to the exhibitions.

James Welling: Monograph
A retrospective exhibition of the works of postmodern artist James Welling. The most comprehensive survey of Welling's work to date, Monograph includes photographs that span the past thirty five years. The works in this exhibition explore Welling's convergence of photography and painting. Read a Bomb Magazine interview with Welling here. On view through January 12, 2014.

Forrest Bess: Seeing Things Invisible
Seeing Things Invisible presents 50 of the Forrest Bess' paintings dating from 1946 to 1970. This exhibition will also include a contribution by Robert Gober who curated The Man That Got Away, an exhibition at the 2012 Whitney Biennial that illuminated some of the most disturbing aspects of Bess' art and life. Also check out a conversation between Gober and Elisabeth Sussman on Thursday, October 3 at 7:30pm. This show is on view through January 5, 2014.
