A new series on what some people said about climate change during the week.

"If there is no action soon, the future will become bleak." -- Jim Yong Kim, president of the World Bank, writing in a Washington Post opinion piece

"The World Bank should stay out of global warming politics." -- Ed Rogers, co-host of The Insiders blog, offering commentary from a conservative perspective in a Washington Post opinion piece.

"Al Gore’s prediction in An Inconvenient Truth that rising sea levels... could some day flood Manhattan was ridiculed by the climate deniers at the time, but just six years later Superstorm Sandy flooded all of lower Manhattan and the New Jersey shore, causing billions and billions of dollars in damage." -- Carter Eskew, co-host of The Insiders blog, offering commentary from a liberal perspective in a Washington Post opinion piece

"(T)he term 'denier' was invented by propagandists for the view that global warming is caused by humans, will be catastrophic, and fighting it will cost billions of dollars. It is meant to claim that people who believe either that climate change is mostly natural, is not sufficiently understood, is unlikely to be catastrophic and/or should not cost billions of taxpayer dollars annually are not in intellectual disagreement with them, but are morally inferior." -- Amy Ridenour, chairman of The National Center for Public Policy Research, a conservative think tank, writing on her National Center blog.

"I was in New York for Hurricane Sandy… Regardless of how you feel about it, it's something that needs to be addressed because we're seeing more and more natural disasters each year, it seems like. Something has to be causing it." -- Derek Jeter, shortstop for the New York Yankees, told the Columbus Dispatch

"Global warming is a total hoax. And I'll tell you how I know. Because it's cold, today, where I live. That's jus' science." -- Comedian Jon Stewart, placing his tongue firmly in cheek on The Daily Show
