Bill Maher appeared on CNN's "The Situation Room" today to discuss a wide range of topics, from health care reform to Sarah Palin's resignation. But...
Welcome back friends! While the weekend is already becoming a faded memory as we face down dreaded Monday, one thing remains clear: The Weekend Late...
Lou Dobbs went way out of his way to make sure that he presented both sides of the story. He didn't have to (or want to), but his professional code insisted he should.
When did the profit motive become the only reason to do anything? When did that become the new patriotism? Ask not what you could do for your country, ask what's in it for Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
Both groups come from the same group of people, both are impervious to the evidence, and both get their disinformation from the same right-wing sources.
The official embossed seal proves that this paper has been embossed with a seal that is official. This has all the trappings of something you would see on the Internet.
A survey by Research 2000 found that more than half of Republicans have doubts about his actual birthplace. This proves the birthers have planted a deep conspiracy seed and they won't go away quietly.
Barack Obama's birthday is tomorrow (or is it?) and in the spirit of gift giving, I've got something for the 28% of Republicans who don't believe Obama was born in America.
If Obama, Gates and Crowley ever get together for that beer, it will be a good photo and probably an interesting discussion, but it will not change how African Americans are treated by police.
The phenomenon called "Driving While Black" is nothing new. But now the so-called Birthers have come up with a novel variation on it: President While Black.
Weirder than the Birthers are the anti-Birthers, who call Birthers conspiracy theorists yet feed the conspiracy by refusing to call for Obama to release his birth certificate.
It has been reported for weeks Sarah Palin would be speaking at the Reagan Library fundraiser on the eighth of August. With just a week to go, the planners should be calling William Shatner to fill in.
For every Henry Louis Gates, with resources, notoriety, and connections, there are countless others like him who have to live with the reality of racism in anonymity.

Bill is a smart person but................He is caught up in this Carl Sagan Quote.
"One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. The bamboozle has captured us. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back."
You can substitute Bamboozle for whatever you like.
The politicians know this too.
The act of protecting either side of the political spectrum or taking sides doesn't help the average person in any way. In fact, the politicians count on this fight one side against the other.
You can't make an argument in any way for or against either side if they are both wrong. And both sides do lie.....a lot.
"I'LL ROLL MY SLEEVES UP" or "CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN" . When are we going to quit fighting over this crap and realize it only hurts us. For the most part all of these guys are crooks. Do you benefit from there shady deals? I know I don't.
It's extremely interesting to me that while so many people are calling Obama a fascist and a socialist and talking about him trying to "take over the country," there certainly seems to be so much more tolerance from this administration for the extremes of speech than there was under Bush. What happened to Mahar and Politically Incorrect vs. what's not happening now is a prime example of the extremes to which one admin abhored dissent and the extremes to which another will go to allow the boundaries to be pushed.
The administration didn't shut Maher down, the company he worked for did. He made a comment at the wrong time, and got himself fired...Blame Bush if you'd like, but your assertion is factually inacurate.
Correct in pointing out that it was abc, not Bush, that fired Maher. Though you seem to imply ("wrong time") that his firing was justified. That is foolish. All Maher said was that the men who perpetrated 9/11 weren't cowards. You can quibble about that statement, which would either be a debate on the true definition of the term coward, or it would be proof of your own nationalistic sensibilities blinding you to rationality.
And though it was ABC that fired him, Bush cannot be completely relinquished of some blame for even that. He, and his administration were clearly at the heart of the pumping up of fear mongering and skewed patriotism that pushed the US into the hysteric frenzy that rubbed off on ABC.
Bill rants about religion - I'd like to see a rant from him about Yale Press not allowing anti-mohammed cartoons to be published in a scholarly work examining such cartoons.
I think there is a difference between journalism and hiking. We need brave journalists or we will never know what is going on. What are you going to trust these governments to give us an accurate picture?

I'm a big Maher fan but I would like to see less movie stars on the show - it seems conservatives
are too scared to appear lately

For those not familiar with that award: You win an award if you manage to fataly remove yourself from the human genepool by exceptional stupidity.
Great fun!
I'd never have thought that death could be so amusing: http://www.darwinawards.com/

Bill is one of the only reasons I still have HBO.
Me too !
Boxing and Bill does it for me.
Bravo, Bravo!

He has ranted about that... don't you watch?
I wished that Bill Maher had a Show on every night like Jon Stewart !
He will keep Real or the Reality and Truth about things !
He will also admit when, he is wrong !
He is really smart and we need his opinion's every night !
He did have a nightly show like Jon Stewart. It was on ABC. It was called "Politically Incorrect".
And he was fired for being politically incorrect...very ironic.
Yes that was before 'free speech'....
He was removed for a comment about George W.
The same could have been said about the two idiot "journalists" who ended up in a North Korean prison.
