I'm a big Maher fan but I would like to see less movie stars on the show - it seems conservatives
are too scared to appear lately

Hehe, reminds me of the Darwin Awards.

For those not familiar with that award: You win an award if you manage to fataly remove yourself from the human genepool by exceptional stupidity.

Great fun!
I'd never have thought that death could be so amusing: http://www.darwinawards.com/

Bill is a smart person but................He is caught up in this Carl Sagan Quote.
"One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. The bamboozle has captured us. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back."
You can substitute Bamboozle for whatever you like.
The politicians know this too.
The act of protecting either side of the political spectrum or taking sides doesn't help the average person in any way. In fact, the politicians count on this fight one side against the other.
You can't make an argument in any way for or against either side if they are both wrong. And both sides do lie.....a lot.
"I'LL ROLL MY SLEEVES UP" or "CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN" . When are we going to quit fighting over this crap and realize it only hurts us. For the most part all of these guys are crooks. Do you benefit from there shady deals? I know I don't.

It's extremely interesting to me that while so many people are calling Obama a fascist and a socialist and talking about him trying to "take over the country," there certainly seems to be so much more tolerance from this administration for the extremes of speech than there was under Bush. What happened to Mahar and Politically Incorrect vs. what's not happening now is a prime example of the extremes to which one admin abhored dissent and the extremes to which another will go to allow the boundaries to be pushed.

The administration didn't shut Maher down, the company he worked for did. He made a comment at the wrong time, and got himself fired...Blame Bush if you'd like, but your assertion is factually inacurate.
03:01 AM on 08/14/2009
Correct in pointing out that it was abc, not Bush, that fired Maher. Though you seem to imply ("wrong time") that his firing was justified. That is foolish. All Maher said was that the men who perpetrated 9/11 weren't cowards. You can quibble about that statement, which would either be a debate on the true definition of the term coward, or it would be proof of your own nationalistic sensibilities blinding you to rationality.

And though it was ABC that fired him, Bush cannot be completely relinquished of some blame for even that. He, and his administration were clearly at the heart of the pumping up of fear mongering and skewed patriotism that pushed the US into the hysteric frenzy that rubbed off on ABC.

Bill rants about religion - I'd like to see a rant from him about Yale Press not allowing anti-mohammed cartoons to be published in a scholarly work examining such cartoons.

The same could have been said about the two idiot "journalists" who ended up in a North Korean prison.

I think there is a difference between journalism and hiking. We need brave journalists or we will never know what is going on. What are you going to trust these governments to give us an accurate picture?
