WATCH: How to Own an Election

If you're visiting a candidate this summer and looking for a thoughtful gift, might we suggest a nice super PAC? Thanks to the Supreme Court and Citizens United, they're all the rage among the mega-wealthy. In my latest Moyers & Company broadcast essay, I'm sharing who's giving, who's getting, and how our democracy suffers as a result.

Moyers & Company airs weekly on public broadcasting. Check your TV schedule here, and explore more features and a full Bill Moyers video archive at BillMoyers.com.

"Be the change you wish to see in the world"

Bill Moyers is one of the most intelligent and honest journalist. that I know. I do not understand why more people do not comment about what he inform us.
Bill, your last comment says so much truth that it is scaring, , but we know that it is not a joke, unfortunatelly. Definitively , the country is for sale! What a shame! And the worse,is that the people that are donating all this money are the same that prefer to cut the benefits of healthcare and the schools budget than to let go the Bush Tax break. And God Bless America!

So true and depressing. I feel totally helpless to effect change at all anymore. Considering leaving the country some day.

Thomas Frank reluctantly admits that we've lost our democracy. There is a huge body of citizens that have no representation, much more than 50%. He concludes that we are now a Plutocracy, government of and for the wealthy. I think we were at a precipice in 2008, where democracy could have been saved. The WH decision to move to the losing side, in the name of bi-partisanship, removed all doubts as to who would be served. The alliance of Obama, Reid, and McConnell, although bathed in a Kabuki dance, negated the election of change in the very first year. Frank proposes a third party, but doesn't see how that will not be corrupted by wealth like the Tea Party.

Go to his website to see his conversation with Thomas Frank this weekend. Great conversation although not good news for republic
