If Diana Nyad's swim from Havana to Key West didn't inspire you to be a better person and to get more out of life, then I am not sure what to say.

But, if you are like me and countless other people, you are not only impressed with Diana's athletic achievement, you are completely inspired by her unwavering commitment to her dream.

I first met Diana in 1975 at a Women's Sports Superstars event and she is definitely a champion's champion. She has been so generous with her time, her contacts and her insight for organizations like the Women's sports Foundation and she is a complete team player.

When Diana first told me of this swim she was planning, I have to admit I thought she was crazy and I worried about her health during the long trek. But, she proved to all of us that it does not matter if you are 64 or 24, if you commit to your dreams and you give it all you have, good things do happen to those who willing to break the barriers, shun the stereotypes and live the dream.

Diana and her team have made history and it is an achievement we should all celebrate. When Diana got out of the water on Monday, we felt energized, empowered and inspired to step up and to never give up.
