The World's Most Colorful Destinations (PHOTOS)

Marvin Gaye sung 'The world is just a great big onion'.

We say peel away the layers and stand and admire the color clash. For tropical flavor with more citrus overtones than Miuccia Prada's fruit bowl-chic spring/summer collection, we've collected together our favorite kaleidoscopic destinations to re-engage the retina.

Dare not to shield your eyes; stand and admire.

here in southeasten michigan, they build in the suburbs and downtown area all of these townhouses that are connected together and they all look alike, the same color for the whole complex of condos and townhouses. these looks so much more full of life.

Stunning, colorful Victorians, with beautiful English gardens, and wrought iron fences.

Charleston, SC? There's a reason why the homes along East Bay Street are referred to as Rainbow Row.
10:28 AM on 03/11/2011
Yes, being from coastal LA I too wondered why Charleston was not on the list. Or Savannah. Maybe because the colorful part is not nearly as extensive as that of New Orleans, and they figured they were two kind of similar places? Or maybe....too tasteful, and they were looking for quirky/gaudy.

Bermuda

Agreed!!! as an American of Bermudian decent it would of been good to see the pastel colors of the entire island(s) included on this list...

How can you write this list and exclude Curacao? Just look up Willemstad, Curacao and you'll know what you're missing! The buildings are constructed in the traditional Amsterdam architecture shocked with pastel Caribbean paints.

Also agreed...my wife and I visited Curacao last summer and the colors of Willemstad were off the charts
02:29 AM on 03/12/2011
Yeah, I thoroughly expected to see the inner city harbour at Willemstad on this list. It's a world heritage site and is exquisite. Bonaire is an extremely colorful island, too.
