Bob Klein has been a serious amateur photographer for nearly forty years, but has only recently begun entering images in photographic competitions. While Bob majored in Radio/Television/Film Production at the University of Maryland College Park, he didn't go into photography or film production as a career. Rather, after college he went into television advertising sales and then into media planning and strategy for major advertising clients in New York City. Three years ago, a close friend who is a commercial photographer convinced Bob to enter photo competitions. He aspires to exhibit his images in museums and to sell his work in galleries. You can see a sample of his portfolio at www.bobkleinphotography.com. Bob lives in Armonk, NY.

The image is titled "A wintry night walk." This image was taken in 2012 while on an expedition in the Norwegian Arctic. We were about 400 miles from the North Pole when we came upon this bear. The bear was going in and out of the ocean onto the ice. We were fortunate enough to watch it for about forty minutes while it swam and lounged before it disappeared into the ocean in the distance. We were in awe of its grace and power.
