New York Fashion Week is one of my favorite times of the year. My team and I get to create beautiful (and often unusual) looks that go way beyond traditional 'Bobbi' makeup, which allows me to tell new stories through different artistry techniques. I love collaborating with the industry's top designers to help bring their clothes to life, and I also enjoy getting to work with my top makeup artists from around the globe. Backstage, the vibe is incredible, and when it's all over, I'm filled with renewed energy, tons of new ideas, and endless inspiration.

To kick off fashion week this year, I went to Macy's Herald Square for Fashion's Night out, joining Rachel Roy, Tommy Hilfiger, Samantha Ronson, Amare Stoudemire and Joss Stone in the celebration. I greeted customers at my counter, signed books and palettes, spent time with Joss Stone before her performance, and did interviews on the Macy's red carpet which were streamed live to other Macy's stores joining in on the festivities from around the country. I was also in every NYC taxi... For Fashion's Night Out only, I showed passengers how to create the perfect smoky eye in the back of a taxi as part of a special taxi TV promo, which also ran on the Macy's jumbotron in Times Square!

The day after Fashion's Night Out, I attended the makeup test for the Rachel Roy show, which I keyed on Monday the 12th. Rachel's collection embodies the look of 'Colonial Vietnam' with clothes inspired by the women of Saigon in the 1920s. The collection is a range of neutral to bright colors, so to complement the array of hues, the makeup remained natural-looking and pretty, featuring shades of Rose Gold on the eye, cheeks and lips. Rose Gold also happens to be both my and Rachel's favorite shade of gold.

Fashion Week is one of our busiest weeks of the year. My team ended up working on 10 shows including Tibi, Whit, Giulietta and Ellen Cassis. We are exhausted, but are just getting started. This fall, I am celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, so what I think is busy will just get busier as I plan parties in New York, Paris and London. Stay tuned...
