When President Obama took to Jon Stewart's special Washington set on the Daily Show and gave him a full 15-minute interview last night, he demonstrated EXACTLY why voters are deserting him in droves.

He CALMLY told us that his administration has had historic achievements. He agreed that the slogan that helped him win the last presidential election, "Change you can believe in," needed to have the new add-on: "but we have to work on it." He continually repeated that change "is a work in progress."

President Obama, you are right! We the people are unreasonable. We want our change immediately! We want our jobs back! We want our mortgages fixed! We want better education! Lower taxes!

But we weren't sure we want health care, especially after all the crazy ads that have convinced us that Obamacare will raise our premiums and send our grannies to death panels!

In any case, we wanted all the good stuff fast, especially JOBS! Instead, you keep telling us that it will take longer than 18 months to make these things happen.

And when you tell us these things, you say them so quietly and calmly (like you did last night on the Daily Show), we feel gypped!

Jon Stewart is a card carrying member of the 'Liberal Class' --- those in the Democratic Party, media, academia, entertainment, etc. who have totally lost their bearing and sense of justice and have been co-opted by the ruling-elite empire and are basking in its money and status while kicking (actively or by their inaction) the vast majority of working, middle, and under-classes of average Americans.

Recently, (OCT 28) a NYT Caucus blog headline topic asked, "Is Obama Being Too Timid for Liberal Democrats?"

If Stewart had any real progressive conviction and empathy for our people, our country, and our stolen democracy he would have confronted this Vichy pawn of Empire, Obama, with the following retort to NYT's question:

Is Obama Being Too Timid for Liberal Democrats?

Does Howdy Doody have a wooden ass?

Obama is accurately described to a tee by Chris Hedges new and incomparable "Death of the Liberal Class" ---- as is the NYT and all of the other co-opted, complicit and deceitful sell-outs in the second string Vichy team (the Democratic Party) playing ball for the ruling-elite's global corporate/financial/militarist EMPIRE.

The hell with "Obama Being Too Timid for Liberal Democrats" --- Obama is too gutless and COMPLICIT WITH EMPIRE for democracy and the people!

Do these people realize what they sound like?

Everyone expected him to walk on water. But he didn't manage the expectations like he should have. Obama finally admitted last night where he went wrong by saying, he should have said, "Yes we can, but it will take time." Unfortunately I think it's too late, which is a shame for all Americans.

The Republicans have no regard for the middle class. Bush screwed this country for 8 years and everyone thinks Obama can turn it around in 2? Gimma break! The neocons have no plan other than to make their rich old white friends richer.

Obama didn't have to embrace Cheneys police state, fight against gay rights or suck up to the banking industry and "insurers."

It's much more than simply moving slowly.

Based only on what he has accomplished thus far, Barack Obama will go down in history as a significant, successful, good president. But he could have been so much more. If he had taken the fight to the conservatives, he might have won a lot more, such as a bigger stimulus, for example. Even if he had reached for the golden ring and missed, he would have energized his base, and perhaps have won over some open minded independents who would have become his allies in future debates and elections.

You people make me sick. Barack Obama told us all right from the beginning that "it wasn't about him....it's about US" and you all fled like rats on a sinking ship. I have not lost MY hope for change and I'll continue to support this President until the day he leaves office and even beyond.

What he lacks is passion. If he strongly believes in anything it hasn't showed.

Typical! Let's not be a reasoned person. Let's behave badly like the other party. Yelling and screaming and sloganeering. No substance. Just a catchy meaningless phrase. I just do not get you people. The other party coming back into power via a "wave" - incredible! The same yahoos that created this mess. I repeat, I do not understand you people. I really thought that we were a reasoned country with educated well informed literate tolerant people - remember how we taunted other countries for spawning terrorist? We were so much better than them. Uggh! The more ignorant you are the more American you are called. God help us all!

"Yelling and screaming and sloganeering. No substance. Just a catchy meaningless phrase. "

You got it. Otherwise we come off being like cold oatmeal.

And we are a reasoned country. We make mistakes when we elect people who are great speakers and even honest people but who fail. When we make mistakes we move on but remember and correct them in the next election.

Probably. It happened for Clinton. For one thing he can blame republicans for anything that goes wrong. For another if he chooses to get programs through by working with the House he will look presidential.

Obama and the Dems came in with a strong mandate and wasted it. Most American's understood what the gop had done to this nation and wanted someone to stand up for them instead of big business. I did not want them to reach across the aisle. I wanted them to take a firm stand for working people.

Then you shouldn't have voted for the moron who said there is no Red America, there is no Blue America, at the convention for the "Blue" Party.
08:20 PM on 10/28/2010
Disagreed. Idealism is what is sorely lacking in this country. It was the rhetoric of we're all Americans which made his candidacy so inspiring. For those who like the division - the teabaggers, Faux Noise, Limbaugh, etc. - these are the folks who claim to love America, the Unites States of America, but in reality prefer to divide and conquer. Ugly, unpatriotic and the death of a great nation.

Stewart is right. The President is too timid. The Democrats in congress are too timid. They campaign timidly, and they govern timidly.

The battered spouses are the ones who say their guy gave us non-health care reform and is fighting to preserve DADT because he loves us. It's our fault the Democrats pass Republican bills stripped of any value. He doesn't mean it. He'll do better next year. He promised!

Not everyone if not all have a behaviorism to go around lampooning, panning, ridiculing, tearing to pieces, tormenting and wiping the floor with folks you think are your enemies. It truly is not the American way. I think the President knows that one can marginalize a thing by diligently trying to absorb and consider every issue. But I guess it is a confidence builder that makes one make statements like "he demonstrated exactly why voters are deserting him in droves." Too bad the weapon of mass destruction, religious wars in the middle east, patriotism speeches never made anyone desert other politicians in droves. By the way, don't come back later, with your ways, if things go wrong for this country, with elections and the economy, looking for a martyr. It will be too late so let's try not to marginalize, please.

You should read the transcript of his meeting earlier this week with political bloggers. He gave insightful and realistic answers to their questions. I was most struck with his unflappable patience. His states quite clearly his is trying to reach areas of agreement with Congress and is willing to come to a meeting of the minds on different issues. Now is the rest of the boys would group up and stop acting like rebellious teenagers who want a larger allowance.

Obama looked bad in that interview. Why would he ever go on a comedy show on Comedy Central and act the way he did? When he was on Jay Leno he was joking around and did not look bad (except for when he made fun of disabled people bowling)

He looked like he had no sense of humor and irritated at any jokes towards him. Watch anyone else who goes on Jon Stewart, he will say something funny and a guest will laugh off the joke and explain his true position. Everyone should be able to laugh at themselves a little, nobody's perfect. Otherwise, avoid a comedy show!

The only funny parts by Obama were his gaffes. "Heck of a guy", "We've done things people don't even know about", "Yes we can, but...", lol. And Stewart is a friendly, imagine an interview by O'Reilly midway through his presidency. I would pay to see that.
