Rather than running from the negative press associated with how it formerly handled user contact information, Path today announced a new update that among other things lets runners share their times with friends via Nike+ integration.

The Nike+ feature also lets you see "cheers" from friends while you are running, publishes a map after your run, and shares performance with friends beyond Path on social networks including Twitter and Facebook.

Also included in the 2.1 update is a feature that lets users share what they are listening to with others. Borrowing a page (or chord) from popular services like Shazam, SoundHound and SoundTracking, the new feature includes audio detection technology that tracks what you are listening to before sharing it with friends.

While the Path update extends to both the iOS and Android versions, only iOS users will be able to take advantage of new camera features that include focus controls and custom lenses.
