Monckton Lies To AP, Denies He Called Clean Energy Advocates "Hitler Youth"

What's Your Reaction:

Despite video evidence, Christopher Monckton stated in an interview yesterday with Associated Press:

"It was not I who called them Hitler Youth. It was three Germans and a Dane in the audience."

It would appear that a more appropriate title than "climate denier" for Monckton, might be "reality denier." For Monckton to now deny making the comment at the Americans for Prosperity event is bizarre, since the video below shows him saying "Hitler youth" twice, and he has since admitted to making the statement repeatedly on camera (including in my own interview with him the next day). If anyone still questions that Monckton has a serious credibility problem, here is yet mor evidence how far he is willing to bend the truth. He is truly a denier's denier.

Here's the video (again) of Monckton calling young climate change campaigners the "Hitler youth":

After lying to Associated Press about his Hitler youth comments, Monckton then proceeded to compare the climate activists to Adolf Hitler's fascist army, saying the activists were attempting to stifle free speech, using tactics "last seen here when the Nazis occupied Denmark."

"Here are a few FACTS you should keep in mind about the stolen CRU emails:"

* "There is no evidence that any climate data have been tampered with.
* There are at least three other independent institutions, including NASA and NOAA, whose temperature data show similar warming trends.
* Hundreds of independent scientists have been studying the physics of climate science for the last half century and have amassed an overwhelming amount of evidence that human-caused global warming pollution is warming the planet.
* 2000 - 2009 was the warmest decade on record, according to the World Meteorological Organization and NOAA.
* The concentration of carbon dioxide in the earth's atmosphere is the highest it's been in at least the last 800,000 years.
* Global carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels increased 20% from 2000 to 2006 and are now more than 8 billion tons of carbon per year."

We also know that every major national academy of sciences, including America's, as well as thousands of scientists involved with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and scores of other scientific institutions agree that global warming is a clear and present danger and that we must take action to cut emissions.

"Radical ideologues misrepresenting the contents of stolen emails do not change these basic facts."

People who are kicking Canada should be careful. It has a reasonably conservative government at this time, although one that has bought into the Global Warming hypothesis.

It is also the home of Steve McIntyre and friends, who have carefully reviewed the work of some of the world's top global warming climate researchers, and found major problems.

Mr. McIntyre and his friends are still seeking the release of publically funded scientific research data from scientists around the world. The failure of the climate research community to release their raw data, analysis, and computer model programs is one of the biggest ticking time bombs in the Climategate Scandal.

No raw data equals no science. Perhaps even the national government of Canada can be proded into making this point in the international arena.

Global Warming is happening, that facts is hard to dispute. However the cause, and the ultimate effects of this warming are not so factually supported. Instead of fighting over the cause, and trying to combat this warming cycle why not devote that energy to finding new ways to survive on the planet after it warms up.

Evolve & adapt or perish is the real dillema facing the human race.

"However the cause, and the ultimate effects of this warming are not so factually supported."

"Good for him?" For lying about science on behalf of Koch Industries, for calling the peaceful protesters "Hitler Youth," or for lying about calling them that?

Is there a word for the level of stupidity necessary to believe that a political position is sufficient to refute a scientific fact?

Pity we didn't see this type of enthusiasm from Democrats and Progressives during the summer at Health Insurance meetings

if he said it so what. its true.
agw supporters think that opposing views should be stifled, data destroyed, free speech limited, science manipulated, and scientific method rejected in favor of consensus.

when did science fear questioning from opposing points of view? oh yea when galileo was alive.

Scientists are always looking for opposing points of view, that's the whole point; improved understanding of how things work. Opposing views aren't being stifled, they're simply not being taken seriously because we already have plenty of evidence of what's happening. Who wants to hear that the earth is flat in the 21st century? Only fellow flat-earthers. Thus no serious scientists take those folks seriously.
03:11 PM on 12/15/2009
and yet i can name numerous factors that the scientific community will not address because of the billions at stake if climate change is proved false. such as.

In an interview with London’s The Sun, Al Gore... Gore reveals his new emphasis is no longer to claim that “the polar ice caps” are melting — in the face of record ice mass at the cooling South Pole — but that “the North Polar ice cap” is doing so. So possibly this adaptive creature will begin speaking about the “hemispheric warming crisis”?

the fact that the magnetosphere is in declination, as evidenced by the south atlantic anomyly, and allowing more radiation to strike the earths surface.

finally if you compare the number of reporting stations which in 1850 totaled a few hundred from new england to old europe, and aboard ships travelling from america to europe, to current stations which are located mainly in dense urban ares filled with concrete, you cannot create a unified global temperature set.
12:03 PM on 12/16/2009
So they are always looking for opposing views to gain futher understanding. but they just don't take those views seriously because they don't need further understanding.....,does that really make sense to you??

What's he building in there?
01:53 PM on 12/15/2009
If he said it, so what? Because he lied about it, that's why. And further on in your little diatribe, you suggest that the science has been manipulated. Because you think a couple of scientists lied. They didn't, but you are beyond reason at this point. Therefore all scientists are liers? But its okay for your side to lie, because...... why was that again? Because your side basically supports Moamar Kadhafi and Hugo Chavez and Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. And you blindly carry their banner.

Monckton made a buffoon of himself recently by misrepresenting IPCC data in a letter to the NYTimes. Prevarication, you know what that is? He is a serial abuser. And you support him.
03:20 PM on 12/15/2009
personally i dont know him. as for him lying i cannot comment. my comments were about,

"Because your side basically supports Moamar Kadhafi and Hugo Chavez and Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. And you blindly carry their banner."

no i think not. since when does any scientist in any field destroy data, as east anglia has admitted doing, to further their AGENDA be they right or wrong? this alone requires all of us to be skeptical of their findings. have you read the emails? i have.

anything less is not reason but blindness. and science does not follow blindly. we question.

I hope this article gets to as many people as possible. Everyone needs to be aware that Monckton is a liar.

There's climate deniers and then there's Monckton's reality denial. Where are the trolls to defend their climate denier idol? Hey guys, you've all defended this guy as the messiah of anti-climate science. Why aren't stepping up and the defending this lie as well?

Where are they? Right here. One of them just responded to you.

And the answer to Monckton's reality denial seems to be thus: The right would rather support someone with a history of lying, than al.gore.

How can anyone argue with that?
