It's the boys' turn to impress on "American Idol," and with only five spots available, all 10 performers have to give it their all. The night had its ups and downs, with some shaky vocal performances a few poor song choices. Luckily for the men of "Idol," Nicki is on their side and, by the end of the night, had declared her undying love for at least half of them. So who made Nicki's love-list? And who actually impressed the other judges?
Paul Jolley started off the night with the Keith Urban song "Tonight I Wanna Cry." Keith was very honored and touched, but Nicki thought he might have over performed a bit. Randy was also somewhat skeptical of the performance, but thinks he has enormous potential.
Johnny Keyser, the object of Nicki's affection, was up next, singing Jason Mraz's "I Won't Give Up." The reviews were mixed for Johnny: Keith loved it, but Randy didn't think it was the greatest and Nicki was solely fixated on his relationship status and seemed ready to pounce at any moment.
J'DA put on a real show for the audience with Adele's "Rumour Has It" and all of the judges applauded his originality. Nicki called him a superstar performer, but thought his voice was a little whiny at times.
Kevin Harris, known by the "Idol" judges as "Butter" for his smooth voice, sang the Bryan Adams classic "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You." Nicki absolutely loved everything about it, but Randy thought it was boring and a karaoke performance.
The unique Chris Watson took to the stage next with "Sittin' On the Dock Of the Bay." The song did not suit his voice well and all of the judges agreed that it wasn't his best vocal performance.
In the first truly strong vocal performance of the night, Devin Banks dominated the stage with his rendition of "Listen." His raw talent was refreshing for the judges. "You walk out there and you can sing. You made a connection with me from your voice," Keith told him.
Eighteen-year-old Elijah Liu channeled his inner pop star, singing Bruno Mars' "Talking to the Moon." Following his performance, Nicki declared her love for him, announcing that she would like to have his babies. So, I'm guessing she liked it.
Charlie Askew, another favorite of Nicki's, made the bold choice of singing Elton John's "Rocket Man." The song perfectly suited his quirkiness and Nicki informed him that all she wants is to cradle him in her arms.
After Charlie's unique and exciting performance, Jimmy Smith couldn't quite capture the judges' attention with his slightly dull rendition of "Raining on Sunday." While his vocals were good, the judges found it to be a forgettable performance.
Curtis Finch Jr. ended the night on a high note with Luther Vandross' "Don't You Remember." His beautiful voice left all of the judges wanting more.
Once Curtis finished up, it was judgment time. Luckily for Curtis, he didn't have to wait very long to discover his fate and was easily put through. Jimmy and J'Da didn't quite make the cut and were sent on their way. Paul and Charlie both get to continue their journey, but it was the end of the road for Chris. The final decision came down to Johnny and Devin, but ultimately, Devin's powerful voice won out and he was put through.
