The day I got my first pet dog, it was one of the happiest moments of my life. Besides the occasional bathroom mistakes in her younger years and attitude she may have when we're not giving her full attention, she has grown into a great friend and fluffy, sweet member of the family. Girls can keep their diamonds, I'll keep my dog. Here are 10 reasons why dogs are a girl's best friend.
1) Dogs are loyal and loving. When you feed her and she licks your face, that's loyal. When she chooses to run to you out of everyone else and stays beside you on nights where you need a friend, that's love
2) They are social butterflies. Whether it's the mailman, or the next door neighbor, they have to know everyone who is around town. If strangers pass by, she at least wants to get a rub out of it!
3) They are content creatures. I've rarely seen my dog angry, unless I'm giving someone more attention than her. She is happy just to play with her squeaky toy.
4) The joy dogs bring to your life is invaluable. They somehow have a way of knowing when your down, and can cheer you up.
5) Nobody can greet you at the front door like your furry friend can. It's not one simple bark and then she walks away. It is a celebration for her every time I walk through the front door, even if I was gone for only a few moments.
6) The way her face lights up at dinner time is priceless. Now, if you could only get other members of your family as excited for dinner.
7) She keeps you fit and fabulous. The minute you pull out the leash, she goes crazy. It's time for that walk you both need.
8) Dogs teach us how to live life simply. They enjoy the simple things in life. Maybe we should too.
9) They go from pet to member of the family instantly. You've got how many members in the family? Plus 1, including my dog.
10) They will always be there for you. Need a friend after a long, hard day? She is there waiting for you!
Dog's are definitely a girl's best friend. She keeps you fit and fabulous with long walks, is an emotional support and shows you how to live a simply happy life. Something we should all do. I don't see a diamond necklace doing any of that. Save the cash on diamonds and spend it on you best friend, whether a new toy for her, grooming or those dinners that she'll love. In her own language, she will thank you. And she will love you forever.
