BGG Weekender: Taste of the Eastside, a Vintage Fashion Expo, & the Paris Photo Fair

Just take care, as last year's country music festival was riddled with rowdy, aggressive fans and lots of fights. Almost makes you miss the ditzy faux-hippies of last weekend, no?

Maybe some of you didn't get your fill of festival madness after the past two weekends of Coachella. Or maybe you've just been waiting for a festival with a little less of this type of nonsense and a little more of this type of nonsense. Either way, you're in luck, as Stagecoachtakes over Coachella valley this weekend. Just take care, as last year's country music festival was riddled with rowdy, aggressive fans and lots of fights. Almost makes you miss the ditzy faux-hippies of last weekend, no?

Those of you staying local will have plenty of opportunities to rock out without the desert heat or requisite cowboy hats. You'll also be able to get in on some free exercise, enjoy BritWeek (um, YUM), and celebrate the fact that we are halfway to Halloween in style (or, costume)

Friday

If you're in wedding-planning mode, you probably already know that St. Pucchi's biggest sample sale yet is happening today (11 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and tomorrow (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.), with gorgeous gowns up to 75% off... so we'll cover for you if you want to tell your boss you've got a doctor's appointment that just might last all afternoon.

Next on the agenda, we've got free dance classes at Moore Dancing, which is offering a gratis Cardio Blast class at 5 p.m. and an '80s Dance Party class at 6 p.m. Or, head to Sherman Oaks for a Magic Mike Dance Party via Barry's Bootcamp starting at 6:45 p.m.

If you'd rather watch dance than partake in it, check out Traces, a show combining everything from music to dance to illustration to skateboarding to high-risk acrobatics (no joke). Friday's performance starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion, and tickets are $25. Or, if you're feeling more cerebral about the whole dance thing, head to the Hammer Museum for day one of Dancing With The Art World.

Those of you who only dance when there's live music playing should check out one of the following concerts Friday night: Soja at Club Nokia, tickets are $25; CHAPPO (fuzzy space rock?) at The Satellite, tickets are $10;Making Movies at El Cid, tickets are $10 at the door; Crystal Castles at The Hollywood Palladium, tickets are $50; Los Amigos Invisibles at The Fonda, tickets are $33; The Veils at The Echo, tickets are $15; The Cave Singers at the Bootleg, tickets are $15; or The Wild Ones at Los Globos, which is free with RSVP.

After, fashion a quick costume and head to Rush Street for their Halfway to Halloween Party, which goes from 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.

If you're looking to grab a bite in the midst of it all, try one of LA's Best Korean Restaurants. For those of you who end up downtown, we definitely recommend popping into newbie bar Sixth St. Tavern to crush a cup or two as well.

Saturday

We suggest starting your Saturday morning just as aggressively as you ended your Friday night by joining in on the Brewery Artwalk downtown anytime after 11 a.m. Then, head to Teri Hatcher's Celebrity Yard Sale, if you're into that kind of thing, out at The Americana in Glendale. Or, for something a little less embarrassing, opt for a visit to Paris Photo, a prestigious art fair dedicated to contemporary and historical photography, at Paramount Studios instead. After, pop downtown to peruse the Rachel Pally Sample Sale (2301 E. 7th Street, Suite C100).

You could also go west to hit up the Vintage Fashion Expo, newbie Venice boutique Pearl Drop, and the revamped menu at Local 1205.

Later, we suggest posting up at Echoplex for performances by loads of Brits as part of Brit Week, as we can think of no better place to pick up a cute chap with an even cuter accent. Doors open at 3 p.m., and tickets start at $16.

If bad teeth aren't your thing (we kid!), check out LA Foodie's BITE FLIGHT at Culver City's new wine shop Bar & Garden. Tickets are $15 and include a beer flight and pairing guide, free dessert, and a goodie bag. You should also pop into as many businesses participating in "L.A. Drinks To Boston" as possible to take advantage of deals and specials with proceeds benefitting One Fund Boston.

Later, check out performances by Stereo Total at the Troubadour orShuggie Otis at the El Rey. Or, post up at the Electric Dusk Drive-In for a screening of Goodfellas. Finally, finish out the night by nabbing a seat atTomorrow!--a late-night variety show that starts at midnight--before collapsing in utter exhaustion.

Sunday

If you missed the Vintage Fashion Expo on Saturday, never fear as doors will be open all day on Sunday as well. En route, try to score a seat at newly-opened Tsujita L.A. Artisan Noodle ANNEX for a hangover-friendly bowl of ramen. Later, hit up the LA Modernism Show taking place at the Barker Hanger, then swing by this crazy-weird Jubilee Hat Party at the Shangri-La Hotel, or splurge on a Top Chef Pig Roast at The Wilshire.

Those of you who'd prefer to spend the day east should start with theBrewery Artwalk, if you missed it on Saturday. After, head to Atwater Village for their Beer, Wine & Food Festival... if you can scrounge up tickets, that is. Then, put on some stretchy pants and get yourself over to Taste of the Eastside at Barnsdall Park. Tickets start at $40, but that includes unlimited tastings. Later, check out a performance by indie rock band Derde Verde at the Bootleg, or just while the night away at Villains Tavern via their Sunday Springtime Blues Festival, which starts at 8 p.m. After, get home to watch the latest (recorded) episodes of Game of Thrones and Mad Men. Then, get to bed--tomorrow's a workday, and you've got a major raise to earn!
