We love L.A. summers, and we don't use the "L" word often. There's so much to do, and when you feel like doing nothing you can always do it from the beach. Life would only be better if we were rich and summering in St. Tropez, but until that goes down we're pretty content with the following:
for a $6 beer and a little late-night cheese & charcuterie.
Saturday
We’re going to let you sleep in on Saturday, because we know you need your beauty sleep if you have any hope at all of getting ahead in this town. (We kid. Kinda.) Then, we’re sending you to
, where you’ll engage in an hour of yoga followed by a vegetarian meal curated by our friends at Clean Plates. Gift bags will also abound. If you can’t get into the idea of spending $35 before noon on your Saturday, make your way instead to Culver City for a free
hosted by Chef David Plonowski of Bar Pintxo. If you’re on a diet or just resent the Spanish for their economy-ruining, siesta-filled lifestyle (how dare they enjoy life!), opt instead to partake in the
. (Lorna Jane is an Australian brand that’s like Lululemon but a smidge cheaper, and on Saturday they’ll be offering free workouts, bubbly, and a chance to win $500 worth of workout gear.)

that involves ping pong, water balloon tosses, and all kinds of other retro activities. Midday drinking will also be encouraged. Around 6 p.m., sober up and/or grab your favorite pregnant friend (BGG survival tip #453: knocked up friends make for great cab replacements) and head to The Getty for an Allen Stone concert as a part of the
4. Weed’s not really our thing (we prefer hard drugs, like tequila... or chocolate...or pictures of babies), but if you’re into the whole thing you may want to opt for the Cinespia screening of
We’ve been hard at work putting together a few detailed itineraries for you and dad to partake in together this Father’s Day. However, if your dad doesn’t live in or around L.A. or just can’t be bothered to get off the couch, we suggest you hack into his bank account and treat yourself to a trip to Anaheim. Yes, you heard us... Anaheim.
Before you choke on your morning bagel, let us explain. First of all, the five-year expansion of
has finally reached completion. We don’t really know what that means, but Yelp says there are four new additions to “Cars Land.” You can’t miss that! More importantly, however,
at 7:30 p.m., and tickets appear to be about half of what they’re going for at the nearby Gibson Amphitheatre shows on Saturday. Now, we’ve never actually heard a song by One Direction, but you know how we feel about foreigners, and they sounded pretty sexy on Ryan Seacrest this morning. Consider us official Band Aids, even if the boys of the band are too young to get the reference.
