Friday
Start the weekend on a contrary note. LACMA is screening the Chilean film, No, tonight and we'll be there because gawking at Gael García Bernal is somewhat of a regular pastime for us. After, grab a discounted dinner (courtesy of dineLA) at the museum's restaurant Ray's and Stark Bar, which will be the perfect spot from which to enjoy a potentially rainy evening. The prix fixe menu is only $35 (not including tax, gratuity, or booze, mind you) and includes rich comfort dishes such as pork belly and truffled pasta.
Later, check out the Cody Chestnutt show at the Troubadour or, if you're more of the Hollywood club type (whatever floats yer boat, ladies!), check out SBE's latest, Emerson Theatre. Then, call it quits for the night -- you've got some seriously aggro shopping to do tomorrow.
Saturday
To fortify yourself for the madcap day ahead, stop by the brand-new (as in, opened Thursday) juicery, Clover, or snag some free coffee at the grand opening of Spazio Caffe in Santa Monica.
Then, get ye to Siren Studios, where Gilt is unloading all that lovely designer back stock of theirs in a one-weekend-only Warehouse Sale. After, keep the discount-hunting vibes alive by heading west to Santa Monica for the second-to-last day of the annual Fred Segal sale. Shopped out? Check out Art Los Angeles Contemporary at Barker Hanger, where 70 galleries will be showcasing their work.
After you've had your fill of both fashion and culture, it's time to get your fill of food and drink. Head to Culver City for dinner at newbie Food Festival, a Caribbean restaurant with a terribly confusing name. Finally, wind down your night at City Tavern (also in Culver City), where each table has its own personal tap.
Sunday
Sunday morning, check out the German sausage pop-up Knackig at Mignon downtown. They had us at bottomless mimosas and breakfast brats, plus Gilt City is currently running this awesome brunch deal. After, get lost at the L.A. Art Show, using this handy discounted admission deal. You might be priced out of the artwork, but inspiration is always free!
Later on tonight, use the beginning-to-wane dineLA deal for Susan Feniger's STREET ($35!) to grab a meal that might otherwise be out of reach for your humble wallet. Then, wind down this weekend with a dreamy, reality-confusing double feature at the Egyptian, where they're screening Dreams and Synecdoche, NY. Maybe you can use that delusional reality conflation as a tactic to get through the week ahead?
