Motherhood is great. Motherhood is terrifying. Motherhood is exciting. Motherhood is gross. Motherhood is exhilarating. Motherhood is overwhelming. Motherhood is sacrifice.

Whatever you are doing, stop right now and thank your mother.

Before she was a mom she didn't have to buy fancy, expensive push up bras just to get her boobs somewhat-moderately perky.

Before she was a mom going to the grocery store alone wasn't considered "me time."

Before she was a mom she actually needed an alarm clock to wake up before 6:00 a.m.

She didn't need to to squeeze her legs together when she sneezed.

She didn't hum Nick Jr. theme songs when she was in the car by herself.

She was able to sit on a toilet in private.

Whatever you are doing, stop right now and thank your mother.

Before she was a mom she never spent three hours cooking three different meals for a famil

She would never have put her nose up to a butt and sniffed.

She didn't pull out every silly face, goofy noise and awesomely rhythmless booty dance just in hopes of getting a little smile.

She didn't measure ages in weeks and months.

She wasn't nourished by chicken nugget scraps, cold coffee and stale Pirate's booty.

Whatever you are doing, stop right now and thank your mother.

She never had anyone cough directly into her face and use her clothing as a Kleenex.

Before she was a mom she had a blast at bars and clubs and we're not talking the monkey and mickey mouse kind.

Whatever you are doing, stop right now and thank your mother.

She lived in a world where graham cracker crumbs were not embedded in every sofa cushion, carpet and vehicle that she owned.

She could go into her purse without finding a massive amount of wrappers, miniature toys and broken crayons.

Whatever you are doing, stop right now and thank your mother.

And she thanks you because:

Before she became a mom she never knew that a simple smile from her child could make her heart explode with joy.

She never experienced the sweet, sweet smell of a just bathed baby.

She didn't know that a bedtime snuggle could erase all of the stress of a bad day at work.

She never knew that the a tiny hand in her could make everything make sense.

Before she became a mom, her heart was not yet whole.
