UConn's Hayes Leads NetScouts Basketball Players of the Week

Tiffany Hayes of Connecticut is our NetScouts Basketball Women's Player of the Week ending January 29th. Hayes, a 5'10 senior, averaged 34 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 75% (8-of-12) on three-pointers as she led the Huskies to wins over Syracuse (95-54) and USF (77-62).

Against Syracuse, Hayes poured in 35 points on 11-of-15 from the field including 6-of-8 from long distance and a perfect 7-of-7 from the line. She also pulled down seven rebounds. In the South Florida contest Hayes scored 33 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Duke forward Mason Plumlee is our Men's National Player of the Week. Plumlee, a 6-10 junior averaged 19.0 points, 14.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in leading the Blue Devils to wins over Maryland (74-61) and St. John's (83-76). Against Maryland he scored 23 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out four assists. Plumlee shot 9-of-13 from the field and was 5-of-5 from the charity stripe.

In Saturday's win over St. John's, Plumlee had his ninth double-double of the season with 15 points and a career-best 17 rebounds. For the week, Mason shot 66.7 percent (14-of-21) from the field and is now averaging 12.0 points and 9.8 rebounds for the season.

Vanderbilt's Jeffery Taylor, a 6-foot-7, 225-pound senior forward from Norrkoping, Sweden, was named our International Player of the Week after averaging 20 points, 7.5 rebounds and two assists in wins over Tennessee and Middle Tennessee. The 6-foot-7 senior tallied 23 points and nine rebounds against Tennessee, and 17 points and six rebounds against MTSU, all while shooting 50 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from three. Taylor, the SEC's leading active scorer with 1,680 points, is third in the league in scoring in all games and leads the league in SEC-games in three-point field goal percentage with a 68.2 percent mark.
