Two Pieces of Advice if You Are in Search of Your Calling

In recent days I have encountered several people who declare their current job is not providing them with the feeling of fulfillment, yet when asked, they have no idea what line of work may provide them with this feeling. They say "I am in search of my calling". Can you relate? Are you in search of your calling?

Normally I write style and color blogs from the perspective of an image consultant and color analysis professional. Today my blog is written from the perspective of somebody who is doing her best in every moment to live a life in alignment with who I authentically am. A life filled doing things that align with a feeling within me of happiness, contentment and passion.

A little background on me -- prior to becoming an image consultant and color analysis professional, I worked for approximately 15 years in the financial, health care and film industries. I escalated up the ladder to management roles and then one day I quit. I was miserable and stressed. I was not really me. (I describe a little bit more of my background in this blog -- "Let Your Style Be Your Gateway to Living Authentically").

My words of advice below are not about quitting your current job. Perhaps one day I may wind back in the financial industry, who knows? The words of advice below are about getting into a state within that will attract and inspire people, places, things, events, thoughts etc. to naturally flow to you that will be conducive to a feeling of fulfillment, conducive to your highest good and your calling naturally arriving on your doorstep.

You may have heard the words of advice below in various forms and from various people before. I am not a career counselor, nor a trained life coach etc. I am writing the pieces of advice below from the perspective of someone who has done some ground work on them for a few years.

So without further ado, here are two pieces of advice if you are in search of your calling.

1. Get happy. When you are feeling happy, you will only attract things of your highest good to you. This is the law of attraction. My goal everyday now is to feel appreciation and happiness and sit back to see what naturally flows to me.

Stop complaining, feeling lack, feeling unfulfilled and instead start feeling appreciation, abundance and satisfaction for where you are right now. This alone can inspire and attract wonders. This takes practice every day, but, it can become habit very soon. Even if you are in the depths of despair, try reaching for a a more positive thought, this will shift your energy.

2. Let go and enjoy the ride. I have found that more times than not when I let go, 'listen', stop trying to control decisions / outcomes and am feeling happy, doors open that I would not have imagined. The key here is to 'listen' and be aware of inspiration, events, things etc. that naturally arise. Meditation can be a great way to 'listen' to your core.

Here is a personal example: when I undertook my image consultant training, I was always puzzled why color analysis was in the curriculum and actually thought I would not like this area of study. But, I sat back and undertook all of the program's requirements because I was listening to a voice within my core. It turns out that color analysis is something I am really really great at, is one of my favorite services I offer and am now very passionate about spreading the word on its benefits. I love color analysis! If you are interested, click here to read my blog on my top "6 Reasons to Have Your Colors Done".

The universe naturally brought me something that makes me happy (right now). Had I not 'listened' to my core, I would not have taken color analysis training and therefore skipped over something that provides me such fulfillment in my current days.

Now you have two pieces of advice from me for those of you in search of your calling. I know this advice may seem overly simple, however, it does take practice/work. I still have to remind myself frequently of my own two pieces of advice above as I go about my day. It does become easier and as you see evidence of it all working out, you get increasingly motivated to keep both of the above practices going. I feel like my life currently is a testament that trusting in the laws of the universe is actually the best, quickest and easiest way for things of your highest good to naturally flow to you.

There is no time like the present to get happy, let go and enjoy the ride.

I hope this blog post inspires you to wear your authenticity!
