365 Invocations to Create an Extraordinary Life, Week 4

Keep asking yourself, "What am I afraid of?" and, "What will happen if I move forward with these invocations?" Think back to what you learned as a child, what you saw in your family dynamics, what you were taught in school, in church, in your relationships.

Namaste and aloha!

Here we are in the fourth week and I am wondering how you are doing with this healing process of self-empowerment. Are you experiencing yourself quieting down? Are you trusting in the process? Are you experimenting with creating an extraordinary life? How about skepticism? Has your coyote mind come deceptively dancing in decked out as truth? After all, this is your mind we are working with and it is used to stressing you and calling all the shots... especially when you are challenging it to believe in the miraculous unstoppable connection you have with the creator.

Sometimes I find that when I really reach out and trust how amazing life is and how strong I am able to be I can count on a big emotional reaction infiltrating my joy somewhere down the line. I have seen it again and again, this competitive mind seeping in. It says, "Oh yeah, you think you're all that? You think you can change the story of your life and all of a sudden create the extraordinary?"

When this happens I have learned two things: I can either sit back and notice these thoughts without responding and let them dissolve or I can ask myself immediately, "What am I afraid of?" Most often I find that I am afraid of change, of fearing what others will think of my new sense of connection to the divine. Sometimes I have feared they will think I'm nuts or have become horribly woo-woo. These are the outer fears. But when I really dig deep I find a sense of non-deservedness... like why should I be allowed to create an extraordinary life when there is so much suffering in the world? You know that feeling of not deserving when most of the world around you doesn't "have," don't you?

The way I work with this is to know that we are all connected through our energies and as I change for the better the world changes for the better. So as I give myself permission to align myself with the source of creation, I let go of whatever existential guilt I have going and know that as I expand it gives others permission to expand, too. This makes me feel like I am making a contribution to others and that feels great.

Then it is time to turn to the real source of my not moving forward into effortless invocation... my fears, my self, what I believe I should have, how I should live, what I deserve according to my ego. This is where the deep work begins... quieting down, going inside and asking questions in a compassionate way to the parts of my self who are reluctant to change, to believe, who fear they will get hurt or be destroyed by disappointment if nothing happens. Or be punished when something extraordinary does. And of course if you believe that you don't deserve to be connected to the source of unlimited creativity, goodness, and love then how could an extraordinary life manifest?

This week the invocations below focus on giving you permission to begin the rigorous journey of exploring inside. Here are some openers to help you relax and enjoy the ride:

1. There is depth within me that is a constant surprise.
2. Today I am aware of my courageous heart.
3. Breathing in I feel my connection to the Universe. Breathing out I release my fears.
4. I heal my insecurities and create new worlds.
5. I face my dualities by bringing compassion within.
6. When I change my inner world, I change my outer world.
7. Out of my darkness I soar into the light!

This week begin by getting comfortable with these invocations. Notice what thoughts follow the invocations and how you feel about each statement. Keep asking yourself, "What am I afraid of?" and, "What will happen if I move forward with these invocations?" Think back to what you learned as a child, what you saw in your family dynamics, what you were taught in school, in church, in your relationships.

Please write me your comments and let me know how you are progressing. I want to get a dialogue going so others can relax, learn and share in our adventure together.

Until next week -- when we will explore why it appears so difficult for us to believe in our own inner power and invoke our best life... 10,000 blessings from all directions!
