Recently, Fox News, Michelle Malkin and Bill O'Reilly have attacked Jay Z for his song "My President is Black", originally a Young Jeezy song but Jay Z made his own version. The rappers were called high profile supporters of Barack Obama, the song was called racist, Jay Z was accused of bigotry and Obama was asked to denounce Jay Z.
To, me Jay-Z's version of "My President is Black" is uplifting song of sentiment of pride of the black community. There is nothing racist about it. While Jay Z's lyrics have at times been materialistic, violent and misogynist, it seems as if Barack Obama has had a very positive effect on Jay Z and he has turned to making positive, uplifting music for the time being. Barack Obama had previously said he liked Jay Z's music, but was troubled by its materialism and misogyny and worried about the effects it might have on his daughters. Has any Republican other than Michael Steele publicly spoken out against Limbaugh's racism?
Bill O'Reilly and Dennis Miller also bashed Jay Z and Young Jeezy for "My President is Black". This is funny because just a few days earlier Bill O'Reilly was defending the Rush Limbaugh for his Barack the Magic Negro Parody. Miller and O'Reilly criticized the song as being vulgar. While Young Jeezy and Jay Z might have some profanities, it was far more benign than O'Reilly's off camera outbursts or his graphic sexual harassment of co-workers.
Why doesn't Fox News call on the GOP to condemn Limbaugh, if they are calling for Barack Obama to renounce Jay Z for his 'racist' song "My President is Black" Shouldn't they call on the GOP to renounce Limbaugh. Their defense of satire might be acceptable if it was Borat singing "Barack the Magic Negro" or if Rush was an actor playing a bigot, but Rush's long history of mean spirited racism whether humorous, degrading or both shows his real intentions.
Top 10 Racist Rush Limbaugh Quotes
Rush Limbaugh's ties to the GOP are way stronger than Jay-Z's ties to Barack Obama. Fox attempted to connect Jay Z to Obama by mentioning that he was an invited guest to inauguration because his wife, Beyonce, performed. Limbaugh, however was one of Bush's last guests to the White House, Bush has appeared several times on his show, as has Sarah Palin, Condoleeza Rice, Clarence Thomas, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and several other high profile Republicans. Limbaugh's ties to the GOP are strong enough that Obama has asked them to stop listening to him.
We are in a new era. If Fox wants to criticize Hip Hop, they must also criticize Limbaugh. Limbaugh has said that he wants Obama to fail, meaning he wants America to fail with Obama. Isn't that America hating, Hannity? Shouldn't you call out the lynch mob, O'Reilly? If being proud to have a Black President is racist, isn't demeaning our president as a Magic Negro racist too? I have already outlined why the GOP must denounce Limbaugh, now its Fox's turn.
Henry Blodget: News Corp Should Fire Glenn Beck
It's no surprise that advertisers are running for the hills after Beck's idiotic remarks about President Obama. Fox should now take the appropriate step and fire him.

Our President and MLK Jr. would NEVER use the "N" word in public. The word demeans ALL Americans.
I just want to say one thing. If you believe that this song is the first time rappers have been politically active or had uplifting music, then, you just haven't been listening or only listening to Top 10 Hits. A quick list:
Afrikka Bambaata and the Zulu Nation
Stetsasonic
KRS-One
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five
The Coup
Tribe Called Quest
De La Soul
etc, etc., etc., etc.
We all know political and conscious music doesn't always sell well and sometimes you have to bite the head off of a bat to sell a record. Nuff' said.
None of those artists are in the current top 50.

I suggest you read Jay Z's lyrics before you judge. Throughout the evolution of music offense has been taken by one person, group or sect of lyrics or dance (the waltz was considered vulgar at one time).
Yes, there are maybe two words in Jay Z's lyrics that you might find vulgar. However, didn't you see his reference to historical racism - Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, the Iraq war, the double entendre of "white lies" from Bush - that line alone is poetry! Read his lyrics again, I think you'll see beyond the "vulgar words" that he was celebrating our country's passage and also his need for personal growth.
Our former Vice President told Senator Leahy to "Go f*** yourself" how's that for vulgar. but then, that might be okay because Cheney was VP, Republican and white? If I'm wrong, I'm sorry if I might have offended you
victoria 38, I really think you need AMERICAN history lessons otherwise you'd know the one drop rule. One drop of black blood makes you BLACK not 1/2 WHITE, not blacklanation, not half cast, not half tone, not mixed race, just BLACK!!!!. the sooner you folks embrace that the better we can understand each other. My father is Chinese and my mother is black (her father is white and mother is black&white) all of us are born in Jamaica. Guess what we are, black. In America, it is such a burden to be black that black and white people grasp at straw to identify one another as something else. Barack Obama carry more black gene than white, Barack the man has no problem identifying as black. as a child he did because all this half bs that society spits out tainting ones psyche. Just because his mother was white didn't make him white, if he'd committed the most heinous crime in American history, you can bet your asses none of you would be embracing the 1/2. At the Republican convention, I do recall a certain Senator Lynn Westmoreland calling Barack Obama, UPPITY, twice!! So Victoria 38, was he calling the white 1/2 UPPITY?!!! That white woman who stated to McCain that Barack is an Arab, was she referring to his 1/2 white side? Barack Obama mother might have been white but she raised a black man. Accept that, I think she didl
Why won't this who's black and who's white issue just end. Has anyone noticed that Obama won because of his content not because of his color. America saw him as smart, fair and the right person for the job.
People still watching FOX ????????????? I know I no longer do !!!!
It's funny...af ter hundreds of years of oppression in this country by racist whites that legally ended up until 40 years ago, a small few whites (mostly republicans) now want to act as if their feelings are bruised by every little thing a black person says. I don't defend ignorant music, but these are rappers, not politicans. Those same children of all these bigots who are screaming VERSE RACISM listen to and buy this music at twice the speed and volume of blacks. It will be a cold day in hell before I feel that whites are now some kind of inncocent minority who is being bullied upon in this country by blacks. They never cared what blacks said in music until now. No one, and I mean no one has shown more how racist and bigoted they are the whites who had power, money, and politics to use and abuse all minorites as they pleased throughout the ages (in this country). So now 1 black man is president and now WE are the racist ones? HA! If one man can scare these idiots this much, they need to try living in slavery or Jim Crow like those blacks from the past. Then you will know what real racism is.
As a black person, I'm offended! "My President is Black"...a re you kidding me? I saw the video that O'Reilly showed on his show and heard the disgusting and horrible comments made by Jay-Z and Jeezy. They are not people that I think represent the positive of the black community. They are people that contribute to the negative stereotypes. They need to fall back. And the funny thing is that people like Michelle and Barack wouldn't be accepted within most black communities. In the beginning there were many blacks that said Barack wasn't "black enough" which was horrible! I think Barack carries a positive message and he doesn't need ignorant songs such as that representing him. Yeah he's black, but who cares? Him being black won't stop you from losing your job...him being black won't stop your house from being foreclosed ...serious ly, who cares that he's black? There is the historical side of it, but the inauguration is over, so people get over the race factor. Let's focus on how he'll be as our president. And all of these ignorant songs and artists that only focus on RACE need to move on. Obama didn't focus on race, so it irritates me that they think that they should focus on race. It's not about race, so please don't defend that disgusting song. It's insulting as a black woman that voted not because of race; rather due to the issues and Obama's stance on issues.
Who said Barack wasn't black enough? The news media reporting back to you what "black folks are saying"? I never heard that assertion and I live in Chicago and have seen President Obama amongst the constituency for over a decade. Strongly supported by not only the black community but a coalition of all demographics. I never heard that said EVER, amongst them. If there is any such assertion about "not being black ENOUGH" anyway.
Watch who and why some are presented as the final "opinion" of what ALL black people are saying.
I like that our president has found a way to get hip hop to take a serious social agenda. One that talks about education, values, and leadership. I can't stand materialistic, women hating, and in your face violence as such, I won't listen to anything that promotes it. On the other hand, I have to say, I have heard and liked some of the songs by PAC- keep your head up and others that bring a positive message.
Good for O if he can get hip-hop on a more positive message that's a good thing ( positive messages in the minds of the urban youth can only be good)
Actually Jay-Z has plenty of songs on each album that are uplifting an poetic. It's RAP SINGLES that are misogynistic & materialistic.
Most people who criticize hiphop dont listen to it.
Kind of like me writing a music review on the Rolling Stones when I dont care nor have I ever owned anything about the Rolling Stones.
This is nothing more than racism in the sense that the republicans have nothing to talk about so they sensationalize and go for the easiest target in America: Young Black Males.
Politically speaking when you are out of credible options and when you are on your last leg one thing that brings all Americans together including black women...is a good old fashioned round of hate the black male.
Usually works too.
And BTW...does that idiot think Obama knows every black person in the world? Does he think Obama can just make a call and stop all blacks from speaking the truth about white men? If he does then he's dumber than I thought.
As long as FoxNews knows that their opinions mean absolutely nothing to the black community and that said community will continue to do whatever the f*ck it is they feel like irrespective of FoxNews' inane complaints .... then I'm good.
LOL!
What the hell do you expect from dung beetles? Do we have to be reminded? Do they deserve press as though they matter. I think not! They hand from the hairs around a monkey's alimentary canal conclusion's and attach themselves to excrement from therein.
Hypocrisy seems to be something that is not in short supply on the right. It really throws you for a loop.

Atmus it's good to hear someone being realistic about this topic rather than seeing it as a black or white issue.
Thanks Kottison.
People keep saying "its 2009", time to grow up. But everyone doesn't seem to act it. Even the individuals who claim to be on "our side".
If that is true, then it is time to stop looking at all situations, problems, beliefs and opinions in a different light, with a different state of mind.
That's the only way change will really come.
excuse me while I find my crying towel...
It's certainly not a b&W issue...ju st ask Rev Lowery...! !
Interesting comparison. One comment clearly comes from pride while the other seeks to poke fun at the President. What bothers me more is that ppl on fox news seem to think they can understand how the African American community feels but they don't yet they continue to comment on it. Comments on the use of the N word, O'Reily when he visited that soul food restaurant in New York, his attacks on the rapper Ludacris and on and on and on. Since you can't understand the pride and what they consider their "art" then don't say anything about it!
