What is your greatest accomplishment as of late?

My boyfriend and I are in the process of organizing the All for Alexander Halloween 5K to take place in New Jersey on October 27. We've never planned a race before, but we wanted to find a way to help my neighbors fund an intestinal transplant for their 5-year-old and we couldn't have thought of a better way to bring the community together to help!

How did you achieve it?

We achieved it by asking questions. I showed up at the local park's office and asked them what they needed from me. Since then, we've just asked for sponsorship from local businesses we frequent. A lot of trial and error was involved in learning how to discuss and advertise the race.

What motivates you to make the world a better place?

Alexander. After having to spend 52 days in the hospital, he came home and all he wanted to do was play outside. He didn't say a word about being stuck in bed most of the summer. I think we could all take a lesson from him about how to move past the negative aspects of our lives and focus on the good.

What do you do to stay healthy and fit?

I sign up for races- without them I wouldn't stay motivated. My race of choice is a triathlon. I have done several sprint length ones, and this summer just completed my first Olympic length!

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?

"Decide to be in a good mood, then be in a good mood."

What's your favorite aspect of using Charity Miles?

I know exercising is great for my fitness and happiness, but it's amazing that I can help others at the same time. Plus, the app helps connect a whole national community of runners. It makes me feel like part of a team, even if I train alone.

Who do you exercise for, and why?

I exercise for myself, and everyone around me who'd have to deal with me in a bad mood if I weren't so high on endorphins all the time!
