I have news for those of you in the LGBT community who live in New York City and are looking for a "traditional" relationship in which you want to settle down, get married, and raise children together. According to the online dating site Chemistry.com, New York City didn't even make the list of " Top 10 Cities Where LGBT Singles Are Looking For Marriage & Kids." Do you know what I say to this? Not true! Many of the young, professional, eligible LGBT clients I work with in my matchmaking business are looking for just that!

Reading the article, you may believe that you have to move to Richmond, Va. or Baltimore, Md. to find others searching for the same committed relationship with children that you are. What blows my mind is that number three on the list is Los Angeles, Calif.! Huh? Who gave these "over 10 million surveyed responses"? Don't get me wrong, I love L.A., but I have many friends in Los Angeles, and I can't think of any that want to actually get married and have kids.

I am not here to put down other cities just because I am a New Yorker who knows that New York City is the best city on the face of the planet. I am simply stating that if you are looking for the "traditional" relationship that this article is speaking of, you do not have to move. There are many others right here in New York City who are seeking exactly what you are looking for. What I am here to say is this: Let's get New York City on this list!

The saddest part about this article is the way I came across it. A Facebook friend posted it and commented, "Obviously NYC isn't on this list. Everyone is way too selfish and only out for themselves in this city. Why settle down, when the "next best thing" is right around the corner, and the next hottest guy is 200 feet away?" To this friend I say that this is a diverse city filled with many diverse people. For every selfish person looking for "the next best thing," there is someone out there looking for that special someone to share their life with. Don't get discouraged by one group of people who are simply looking for fun. Find ways to expand your friend base and find the people who are looking for long-term relationships and family.

If you are seriously looking to settle down, get married, and have kids, New York City is as good as any of these cities! I know for a fact that there are many eligible people out there in the NYC LGBT community looking for a life of marriage and children.

Your friendly neighborhood matchmaker,
Charlie
