The news came on Friday. It was followed by shock and disbelief. Tim Russert, only 58 years old, had died. He was a friend of this program and he was a friend of mine. As Al Hunt said to me at this table, Tim was the gold standard in our business. On the day of his death, we commemorated him through new commentary and old interviews. Here is Tim in his own words expressing his gratitude for having the chance to live the American dream.

russert was the only talking head i could watch. why? because when he asked questions, he gave the interviewee an opportunity to answer fully, without interruption ---- something matt lauer, meredith v, and george should learn to do. he asked thoughtful, serious questions and he called people on their b.s. and contradictions.
he will truly be missed. i've made it a point to watch his program every sunday and follow his reporting of this presidential campaign.
the man's shoes are huge to fill.
Clown shoes no doubt.
You will definitely be missed, Tim. Not gonna be the same without you.
