America is the only nation to have used nuclear weapons.

Since the war with Spain and the invasion of the Philipines the USA has fought over 200 external wars - no other nation on Earth comes close.

It may that America is such a fearful and violent society that it is very hard for it's citizens to actually imagine peace - which is a state of harmony produced, amoung other things, by an attitude of humility and restraint towards one's neighbors.

Generations of ignorance and distrust toward other nations will make it hard for the USA to "put down that gun".
