I just spoke with Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad in his only U.S. television appearance during his visit to Washington this week.

He told me about what the Palestinian Authority is doing to improve conditions on the ground, and about the challenges of doing this in occupied territory. The most critical thing for continued progress, he said, is for Israeli settlement activity to stop. Here is that conversation:
