I have been fortunate for the last three years to have Kate Clinton (our favorite gay political humorist) participate in our LGBT year-end review and chat about what the new year will bring our LGBT community.
This has been an amazing year for the LGBT community, starting with the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," and then the implementation of that repeal. Last summer gay marriage finally became legal in New York, and the Respect for Marriage Act was introduced in the U.S. Senate, taking us a step closer to repealing the Defense of Marriage Act.
Kate talks about this, and about how the year ended on a positive note when at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated, "Some have suggested that gay rights and human rights are separate and distinct, but in fact they are one and the same. Like being a woman, like being a racial, religious, tribal, or ethnic minority, being LGBT does not make you less human. And that is why gay rights are human rights, and human rights are gay rights."
Kate also shares her insights about President Obama and our federal LGBT advancements, the anti-gay GOP presidential candidates, the LGBTQ teen bullying crisis, and more. Clinton even gives us a little sneak preview of her new All Fracked Up Tour 2012 in this exclusive audio interview.
